Process analysis of heat treatment using medium frequency induction heating power supply for measuring tools

As a commonly used measuring tool, measuring tools must undergo multiple heat treatment processes to form. Such as preliminary heat treatment and final heat treatment. Most of these heat treatments of measuring tools are carried out using medium frequency induction heating power. Today, we are not talking about the knowledge of measuring tools, but we are talking about the induction heat treatment process of measuring tools.

1) Preparation for heat treatment. Including annealing, normalizing, and quenching and tempering.

①Annealing. Generally, medium frequency induction heating power supply is used for isothermal annealing.

②Normalize the fire. Normalizing heat treatment of measuring tools can improve the original structure of some medium carbon steel measuring tools, reduce surface roughness and increase strength. Normalizing can be used as a preliminary heat treatment or as a final heat treatment.

③ Conditioning. It can improve surface roughness, refine the structure before quenching, eliminate machining stress, reduce heat treatment distortion and obtain uniform and slightly higher hardness. The quenching and tempering heat treatment of measuring tools is carried out using medium frequency induction heating power supply, which greatly improves its effect.

2) Final heat treatment. Including quenching, tempering, cold treatment, aging treatment and straightening. Today, we only talk about quenching, tempering and cold treatment.

①Quenching. It is advisable to use a medium frequency induction heating power supply, which can effectively reduce the deformation of the workpiece.

②Tempering. Measuring tools should be self-tempered immediately after quenching with a medium frequency induction heating power supply to avoid cracks.

③Cold treatment. For measuring tools that require high dimensional stability, immediately cool to room temperature after quenching (-70 ~ -80°C or -190°C), so that the retained austenite can be transformed into martensite as much as possible. Hardness will also increase.
