Large steel pipes refer to thick-walled steel pipes with a diameter greater than 400mm. This kind of steel pipe has low output, special size and small batch size. It is not suitable to be produced by induction heating continuous heat treatment method. It can only be produced by single heat treatment method. The following introduces the device used for induction heating normalizing and quenching and tempering treatment of a single large steel pipe.

When normalizing and quenching and tempering large steel pipes, the main difficulties arise due to slow heating speed, short induction coil, uneven quenching and cooling, and easy deformation. How to conduct uniform heating and cooling has become the key to solving the deformation of steel pipes. To this end, we have developed a large steel pipe induction heating heat treatment device composed of a medium frequency induction heating power supply to perform induction heating heat treatment on large steel pipes. When using this device for heat treatment, only one steel pipe can be processed at a time, and only one heat treatment process can be performed. For example, during quenching and tempering, quenching is performed first and then tempered immediately, instead of completing two heat treatment processes at one time.

The large steel pipe induction heating heat treatment device consists of a steel pipe horizontal moving mechanism, a rotating mechanism, an inductor, a cooler, a steel pipe end sealing rotating mechanism, a quenching device, and auxiliary electrical and mechanical transmission mechanisms. The following focuses on the structure and working conditions of several important parts.

(1)Steel pipe rotating mechanism. The steel pipe rotates forward during the heating, quenching and cooling processes. The rotation of the steel pipe is achieved by a transmission system driven by a speed-adjustable motor at the end of the mounting bracket. The rotation speed is controlled by changing the speed of the speed-regulating motor.。

(2) Steel pipe horizontal moving mechanism. Horizontal movement is driven by a transmission mechanism installed at the bottom, which drives the screw to move left and right. The transmission machinery is driven by a speed-regulating motor. The moving speed of the steel pipe is achieved by adjusting the speed of the driving motor, and the moving direction is controlled by a reversing clutch.

When heat treating steel pipes, the left half of a steel pipe is processed first, and then the right half is processed in two steps.

(3) The structure of the rotating chucks at both ends of the steel pipe. The function of this mechanism is to keep the steel pipe rotating and clamped so that it does not shift. The rotation of the steel pipe is realized by the ball bearing seat, the rotating shaft and the rotating mechanism at the other end. The steel pipe and the rotating parts are fixed by the pressure of the cylinder piston. The piston pressure comes from the gas pressure in the pipeline. The tightness of the fixation and the loading and unloading operation can be adjusted through the air pump.

(4) Quenching device for large steel pipes. The quenching device consists of a medium frequency induction heating power supply with a frequency of 1-10KHz and a power of 400kw. The quenching water spray ring needs to be specially designed.
